My Nemesis

I've mentioned before the Canada Geese that have chosen their Winter location in the fields around my house. It's been fun to see them and watch Joe chase them here and there. What has not become fun is that, well, Canada Geese poop A LOT! Their droppings cover every inch of our walking trail, and much to Joe AND Jack's delight. Joe recognizing a yummy treat in almost anything enjoys them very much, but what surprises me is that Jack is just as enthralled with the green treats. I haven't said Jack's name so many times during a walk before.

Yes, these two lovable faces cannot keep their noses out of goose excrement. Goose poop has fast become my nemesis. When is Spring coming?

It's the Simple Things In Life

I like Joe's freckles on his front paws. When I look at them they make me smile.

I like the extra piece of hair that Jack's tail has. None of his siblings have it. I think it's beautiful.

Goldfish Please

I like to use Goldfish as training snacks and when I run out of regular doggie snacks. On special days when I get to hang out with my nephew, Patrick, he gets Goldfish too. Patrick is better than a Corgi Mommy and doesn't share his goodies....the Corgi's wish he would.

The Skippy Natural Peanut Butter Caper

If you know Joe, you know Joe L.O.V.E.'S to eat. His whole world revolves around eating and I'm not really sure if it's the food or just the fact that he loves to eat, because some of the stuff he eats I wouldn't define as food. That said, I admit after the Almond Caper I let my guard down. I still have the almonds in the car, but now I keep them in the glovebox and Joe (and Jack) have to sit in the back of the car, problem solved. But, Joe loves peanut butter, he knows the sound of the jar opening, I know where I kept the peanut butter, bottom shelf in the pantry, well apparently Joe knew too.

When I got home last Friday the peanut butter jar was on the floor in the living room. He managed to get the lid off and lick as far as his little head and tongue would go. I couldn't believe it and immediately called my husband to tell him about it, he almost couldn't believe it, my husband is familiar with the almond story and also had seen the evidence. I managed to be relieved about two things, 1) The jar was almost empty and 2) No peanut butter ended up on the carpet.

But, wait there's more...that night we went grocery shopping and my daughter texted me that my dog is crazy, oh no - what now?!? When we called to check in we were told that Joe had gotten into the chocolate chips and marshmallows...yeah, yeah, yeah, I know shouldn't keep the chocolate chips and marshmallows on the bottom shelf of the pantry, well at least he didn't get into the full jar of peanut butter.

Wait for it...the next evening we left, and then we came home and then we found the hot chocolate and Bisquick spread throughout the house and into the carpet. Really?

p/s there is no longer any food on the bottom shelf of the pantry

I Can't Believe My Ears

If it wasn't coming out of my own mouth and in to my own ears I would not believe it. Our walks which consist of Joe's name being repeated at least 100 times, well he was given a little break.

"Jack, Jack, Jacky."
"Jack stop, don't eat that, don't ever do that again."
"Jack, eeww, stop, don't."
"Ahhh Jaacckk."

But wait reality hits!
"Joe, JOE! Stop, drop it, don't eat that!"
"Joe, no, Joe, oh, throwing up? Well this is where you should throw up, NOT inside the house"
"Jacky, your a good boy."
"Joe, okay, Joe, we're leaving now."
"Joe, what do you get in to, why is your nose and toes covered in dirt?!"

Who Me?

Ahhh, come on it was just one walk.

Sounds of a Corgi Walk

I'm always alone on our mid-week Corgi walks. Alone meaning no other humans. Although the occasional car is driven by on the parkway, it's the Corgis, the Canada Geese, the flyover from a Hawk and sometimes a rabbit and me...yapping away.
Hence "Sounds of a Corgi Walk"
"Joe, Joe, JOEY!"
"You're such a good boy Jack"
"Joe, Joe, No! Stop!"
"Joe, grrrrr."
"Joe, get over here. Joe. JOEY!"
"Hi Buddy. Why is your brother so bad?"
"Joe, Joe, come, DON'T EAT THAT!"
"Joe, come, come."
"Joe you're a mess. Where'd you get that dirt on your nose from?"
"Hi Jacky."
"Joe, COME ON."
"Joe, sigh."

Obsession

I am completely obsessed with this old property. I've blogged about it before and have quite a few pictures too. The Corgis and I haunt the property often. Jack & Joe love to explore there just as much as I do. I daydream of owning the whole property and moving all my family in. We'll have horses, cows, chickens, goats and bees. A pumpkin patch, a tree farm and a flower garden.

I finally found the pool. I actually had forgotten my Mom had told me that she had seen the pool when a decedent of the original ranch owner took her on a horseback tour years ago. My husband is sure that the pool can be brought back to life...a ranch and a pool?!?!

What little snow was left that day, Jack managed to get a dusting on his nose

I lit up this picture with flash, I think it makes it a little eerie. I don't know what type of bird used it as it's home, but it's a huge nest within arm's reach.

I just love this electric pole. Retired and all by it's lonesome reaching up into the beautiful blue winter sky.

Do you see the face in the tree? It's a little grumpy but I like it just the same.

Joe is always sure the grass is greener on the other side
